Welcome to the second issue of the Journal of the National Collegiate Honors Council, which is devoted to the topic of "Science in Honors" and is dedicated to Len Zane, recently retired as dean of the Honors College at the University of Nevada Las Vegas and a seminal figure in our organization's efforts to raise the level of consciousness about science and mathematics education in our Honors programs. As I indicate in my own essay ("A Biochemist in Honors"), science and mathematics are the only curricular areas which enjoy special committee status within the NCHC hierarchy, thus suggesting that they are perhaps problematic topics for many administrators and faculty in Honors education. Thus, it is hoped that the contents of this special issue will be helpful and instructive for members, especially those who may struggle with these areas of learning and pedagogy in their own programs.From reader reviews:
